In a significant leap forward for pulsed laser technology, the HOTSTACK project, led by Trumpf GmbH in collaboration with Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH), LayTec GmbH and Finetech, is set to revolutionize the landscape of high-energy laser applications. Focusing on the development of high-power diode laser stacks, HOTSTACK aims to enhance the capabilities of pulsed solid-state lasers, pushing the boundaries of material processing, spectroscopy, and imaging.
The initiative targets the fabrication of two novel types of diode laser stacks, promising unprecedented advancements in optical pulse repetition rates and energy. Through innovative assembly and diode laser technologies, HOTSTACK is not only poised to boost the performance of laser systems but also to streamline manufacturing processes. New die bonding technologies and production automation developed by Finetech will set new standards for manufacturing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Funded as part of the “ProFIT Innovation” initiative and co-financed by the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDF) Berlin from 2023 to 2025, HOTSTACK is a testament to the power of collaboration in driving technological innovation and sustaining Europe’s leadership in the global laser technology arena.
